New year, new unboxing! Here’s the first Book Box Club box of 2019 \o/
Book Box Club sends you one new YA release each month along with 4 -6 bookish goodies that fit that month’s theme. Every box comes with an invitation to the online Book Box Club book group, which hosts a monthly chat with the author of the selected book.
(Sidenote: My best friend bought me a Book Box Club subscription for my birthday, because she is the best and knew how sad I was to have to unsubscribe (ah, finances) so this post is entirely thanks to Tora, the best best friend a Moog could have <3)
January’s theme was Storytellers – let’s get into it!
- Bronte notebook by Literary Emporium
- Magnetic storytelling kit by Book Box Club
- Born to Write patch by Quotify
- Writer’s Tips postcards by Book Box Club
Look at all these cute writerly things! I love that Jane Eyre design from Literary Emporium (my wife has it on a sweatshirt and it is a Look) and now it is on a notebook for me to cradle and cherish and eventually talk myself into using rather than putting lovingly in the box with all my other beautiful unused notebooks. (No one look at me). My wife and I are also in the slow process of collecting patches that we will eventually put on a quilt we got as a wedding present and this one is so cute!
- Great Writers pencil case by Laura Crow
- Bonus: art print from Andersen Press
I am so used to seeing designs like this with classic authors that just… don’t feature any women that this came as such a pleasant surprise! It’s so pretty and there is more than one female author represented! And Agatha Christie! ❤ Glorious.
Plus, I don’t think I need to tell you my thoughts on the print: it’s GOTHIC and MELODRAMATIC and there’s a CARRIAGE IN A FOREST so obviously I am peak here for it.
This month’s book is Monsters by Sharon Dogar, which I had not heard of at all but was immediately sold on. As far as I know, it’s a YA about Mary Shelley’s life, so I’m expecting Gothicness abounds. (Did you know Mary Shelley allegedly had sex on her mother’s grave?! Because that is a fact you know now. That is commitment to the aesthetic right there.)
I really enjoyed this box! I’m going to have to put the magnetic story kit up on our fridge and start noodling about with it.
The March Book Box theme is Dream Teams and you can order that box now for a March present to yourself!
Also, if you liked any of the items in this post, you can pick up a January box at the Book Box Club shop and I think after a while the items will be up for individual sale too.
What was your favourite item in this post? Are you excited for the book? Let me know! ❤
